Both approaches are reasonable and can allow you to make money, but it is important to remember that they are often very different. Learning how to invest will be a long process, and it is up to you to figure out how you want to start.

If you are going to invest, make sure that you spend the time to find the right investments. There is more much to making money than buying low and selling high, and it is often likely that you will need a bit of guidance. A good broker can help you, but so can a good investment newsletter or a friend who has been in the game for some time. If you are willing to take advice when necessary and can learn when to go with your get, figuring out how to invest is easier than you might think.
