Things To Keep In Mind Regarding Penny Stocks That Made Big Moves Higher

Penny Stocks That Made Big Moves HigherThere is no shortage of claims in the penny stock markets of penny stocks that have great potential to make big moves higher from pennies to dollars.  However, penny stock traders and investors are left to wonder if there are actual examples ofpenny stocks that made big moves higher and moved on from the penny stock markets into the realm of stocks that consistently trade in dollars.

The fact is that there are many penny stocks that made big moves higher over the years (see the partial list below); however, before discussing examples of penny stocks that made big moves higher from pennies to dollars, it is important to clear up a major misconception.  When researching stocks that went from trading in the pennies to dollars, it is important to keep in mind that any splits that have occurred over the years are factored into historical prices.  For example, many companies that have done well over the years have enacted numerous forward stock splits.  These forward splits skewed the historical trading price data and make it difficult to discern which stocks started as penny stocks and made big moves higher.  For example, if you pull up a chart of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), it appears that Intel could be brought for under 10 cents per share in the mid 1970s, but this is the split-adjusted price of Intel’s stock, not the nominal price that INTC sold for at the time, which was actually well above $10 per share.

  • True Religion Apparel, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRLG) traded from 17 cents per share in 2003 to over $25 per share today.
