Oil Service Company Stocks

Oil Service Company Stocks Offer A Different Angle

Oil service company stocks offer an alternative way to invest in the oil sector.  While the fortunes of companies that provide services to the oil industry generally rise and fall with the price of oil, oil service companies’ revenue and earnings outlooks are not as closely tied to the fluctuations in the price of crude oil as companies that make their money directly by extracting, refining, and selling oil products.  This is because oil service companies provide services to the oil exploration, extracting, refining, and retailing businesses that are needed regardless of short-term price swings in the crude oil markets.  The relative stability of revenues and earnings, and the diversification that oil service companies provide to a stock investing portfolio attracts investors to their stocks.
