New Drilling Technologies Boost Shares of Oil Shale Stock

Horizontal drilling technologies have changed the oil exploration and production industry significantly in recent years in the United States and Canada.  Unconventional oil shale deposits that were once locked up thousands of feet below the Earth’s surface can now be recovered to produce saleable crude oil, oil liquid equivalents, and natural gas in abundance.  This has led to the creation and expansion of numerous oil shale exploration and production companies, and subsequently many oil shale stock trading and investing opportunities.  Although the horizontal drilling oil shale boom has been going on for a few years, it is by no way anywhere near being over, as new oil shale fields are in development and companies explore and develop oil shale assets that were once thought to be unrecoverable.  This means oil shale stocks still have great upside potential, if oil shale wells are discovered, developed, and start producing petroleum and natural gas products.  It also means that many oil shale stock companies are potential takeover targets, as the oil majors look for ways to capitalize on the oil shale boom.
